Position Description

You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER (METROLOGY) in the Metrology Engineering Division Fleet Support Team Fleet Support Team (FST) of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will develop and maintain reports and technical documents that describe the traceability, configuration, and technical processes to calibrate the Primary and Secondary Measurement System and targeted workload.
  • You will identify, propose, plan, and execute projects to close the current and future measurement gaps with the NPSL Scope of Competency to effectively support Navy measurement requirements.
  • You will coordinate and collaborate with the internal Navy METCAL engineering community and external contacts to exchange technical information and develop, plan, and execute research.
  • You will serve as the Metrology Engineering Division Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide technical oversight and expert knowledge in the metrology assigned areas to ensure technical adequacy.
  • You will provide technical advice, guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians regarding metrology engineering, measurement science principles, statistical/uncertainty analysis, troubleshooting and engineering investigation.
  • You will be conceiving, directing, coordinating, managing the NPSL and Fleet/Depot modernization projects across both the electrical and mechanical.measurement system.
  • You will provide technical direction and recommendation to various stakeholders through written and oral communication throughout the acquisition cycle in order to bring in the highest quality of measurement product.
