About the Job

As a member of the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) Group, you will work as part of a highly motivated and collaborative engineering team in support of the Warfighter.   This position will provide engineering support for US Navy E-6 Training Program.     Position located in Tinker AFB, OK

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will advise on, administer, or perform professional, scientific, or technical work concerned with Interdisciplinary Engineering on training systems, which covers any portion of the designing, developing, programming, debugging, documenting, maintenance, management, and security of an entire training system.

 

  • As a journey-level engineer/scientist, you may collaborate with other team members to work on varied, complex equipment systems and provide technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of training systems or concept development.

 

  • You may also serve as a Project Leader for small to medium projects/programs requiring services of employees and/or contractors. As a project leader, you will formulate approaches using knowledge or related projects to resolve a variety of nonrecurring technological problems. You may review proposals for expanded or alternative work proposed by other employees or contractors and make decisions on issues and controversies by directing what work will be performed and what compromises can be accepted. As the project leader, you are often the activity's primary contact point with contractors, other managers, and sponsors for specific projects. In this capacity, you will develop plans and make written and oral presentations to various interested personnel on program status, technical problems, scheduling, and costs.

 

  • Assignments may include major portions of large scale projects or consist of entire projects of a medium scale. Assignments are of such breadth that they may encompass several phases of the development process. You will be expected to carry out work that may have little or no precedent and provides leadership in resolving technical and administrative problems. You may lead a small team to develop engineering criteria and analyze technical problems. Assignments normally include travel to other commands, contractor plants, and sponsor headquarters to discuss and resolve difficult problems, assist in determining the direction of the project, and provide advice on new and emerging technologies.

 

Additional Desired Experience

  • Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirements of the Department of Defense Qualification Standard for Engineer/Scientist Positions:
    • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements generally as stated in paragraph A in the individual occupational requirements OPM qualification standard AND

 

  • 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least DP-3 (or comparable GS grades). Specialized Experience is experience that equips you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • This position is under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Engineering Career Field - Level II is required. If you are not certified, you must achieve certification within 24 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security secret clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
