Position Description

Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

This position is located at Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) China Lake and is part of the Engineering & Integration Environments, Cyber Security Support Branch, Code D573400. The incumbent serves as a ISSO.

ISSO responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain accurate Risk Management Framework (RMF) operational packages and ensure assessment and authorization activities occur on schedule; update artifacts and modify eMASS records as changes occur
  • Ensure junior ISSOs are trained, tasked, and provide deliverables on schedule and within specifications
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness with lab management and users and provide annual training on topics such as data transfer procedures, incident response procedures, and command cybersecurity policies
  • Participate in planned and unscheduled security inspections to include cybersecurity validations  and command physical security inspections
  • Engage in NAWCWD continuous monitoring activities and report status to the Department Information System Security Manager (DISSM)
  • Ensure cybersecurity incidents are reported and actions are taken in accordance with NAWCWD Incident Response Plan procedures
  • Lead IT Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and collaborate with project management and configuration management team on IT task prioritization
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures according to current DoD, DoN, DISA, NAVAIR, and NAWCWD policies
  • Maintain a Top Secret or higher security clearance level
  • Maintain SECNAV M-5239.2 (formerly DoDI 8570.01-M) IT certifications
  • Other duties as assigned
